He purchased Shepard’s Agency in 1979, later becoming partners with David Hawkins and forming Shepard’s Select Properties, Inc. As a businessman, Don believes that outstanding customer and client service is what sets Shepard’s apart from their competition, devoting a balance of old-fashioned, home-town customer service while keeping up with the new advancements in technology for convenience. Don enjoys the practice of real estate because it offers him the opportunity to meet new people and make friends from all over the world who share his passion for coastal Maine communities. Don’s involvement in community activities is tremendous. When he is not at the office or out in the field servicing his customer and clients, Don can be found following his grandchildren to their sporting events, chess and other activities.

Rhonda began working for Attorney David Hawkins, previously a co-owner of Shepard’s Select Properties, in 1999, where she instantly became fascinated with real estate law. She became a licensed real estate agent in 2004, and subsequently gave up the practice of sales when Shepard’s growth in the real estate industry blossomed to the point where a full-time Office Manager was necessary. Rhonda specifically enjoys the fact that her position as Office Manager offers a balance of interacting with people, both clients and staff, as well as paperwork, creativity with design of Internet marketing, and computer technology. Rhonda resides in Deer Isle with her husband, Corliss, and her 2 sons, Andy and Matt. In her spare time, she can be found camping or boating on a lake, or sitting proud in the audience at her sons’ basketball games - her favorite winter activity.
	Richard Lord Send Email Info: Rich, a native of the island and son of co-owner Don Lord, has been a broker for Shepard's for over 25 years. He joined the family business both because of his desire to work closely with his father, as well as his desire to meet lots of good people. Rich enjoys working with people to find them a truly unique property that fits their needs and desires. Rich's strong ability to work well with people can be shown in his years of service to the community including volunteering for the Chamber of Commerce, being on the founding board of the Island Community Center, 15 years as caretaker of the miniature village (which can be seen in downtown Stonington during the summer months) and 15 years as little league baseball coach. Rich is also co-owner of Sargents Rentals, a company which is managed out of the Stonington office by Rich's partner, Suzanne Torrey. Rich and Suzanne reside in Penobscot with their three children, Jordan (age 13), Logan (age 7) and Megynn (age 5). Rich enjoys spending his spare time with his family and being active in their sports.
